HAIKU POEM ROSALIENE BACCHUS

Needing independence
and equal recognition.
Still under supervision,
needing court petition.
Living with displaced values,
wanting adult responsibilities.
No traces of maturity,
or common sense possibilities.
Challenging all authority,
with aggressive behavior.
With sixteen years of life,
hoping dad would concur.
First to give criticism,
and unsolicited lip.
Advising what's cool,
and dad being a 'trip'.
Comparing him to others,
with liberal points of view.
Allowing equal standing...
in adult things you do.
Being one of the gang,
or just a sweetheart.
Sharing his authority,
with a young upstart.
Enabling grown-up activities,
with a child under age.
Trying to be pals with...
one threatening youth's rage.
Just to avoid drama,
Father might give in.
Jeopardizing his position...
of Father or Friend.
Never will this happen,
in my life time...
Choosing to correct her,
when stepping out of line.
Be the 'Father' God intended,
and not a friend to foolishness.
Giving guidance and nurturing,
discipline and tenderness.
Poem from My Poetic Journey by
Gerald W. Jones, Author House, USA,

My mind is focused at this world, and all the wrong that exist
in the minds of men. The thoughts that can enslave a whole
nation, turn brother against brother, and cause death to
innocent women and children.

2012.
