| People Along the Way: Writing Friends |
Writing is a solitary occupation. Being part of a writers' group helps me to work through the challenges of the writing process and prepares me for the publication of my work and all that will entail. As a first-time novelist, I learn from the seasoned writers who have already published one or more novels. When I get together with other writers to share our work in progress, I not only get feedback on what I'm doing right, but also discover areas of my work that need improvement. The poets and writers listed below have played important roles in my journey as a writer. Some still share my journey, while others have moved on. Rich Samson, one of the first four members of our GLAWS critique group, passed away unexpectedly in October 2009. He holds a special place among the people who have joined me on my journey.
